It has been a great May. Lots happening in Croom
First up 6th Class in Croom NS produced a representation of Croom, which is on display in Croom Civic Centre. Do call in to see the research and work produced.
In the park, we have cut a path through the meadow of wildflowers. I hope that you have time to enjoy the flowers, grasses, and insects. This has added to our biodiversity corridors in the park.
CCDA hosted a race night at Aubergine. Thanks to all who supported and came along on the night. There was lots of fun, racing, good food and wine. The Raffle caused much amusement, Daniel Daffy's name was drawn out to win his wife’s beautifully made bouquet and was re-drawn on his insistence!! The good news is that Daniel's name was drawn again! The big prize was dinner for two in the Mustard Seed and Ed Cagney was the winner. I hope that you enjoy that dinner
Maigue Rivers Trust held a couple of wonderful events in Croom on Saturday 20th. Kayaking down the Maigue to Croom. Everyone I have spoken to was delighted with their experience on the river and there were lots of sightings of the resident otter. I am envious
Maigue Rivers Trust also had Fly Casting lessons on the lawns in the park. The lessons were a big hit and enjoyed by people of all ages
May 13-20th was Bike Week and with the assistance of Limerick City and County Council Croom Community Development Association hosted an art competition with St Mary’s National School, Croom. There were colouring for senior and junior infants and the senior classes produced some fantastic picture some incorporating safety aspects of cycling. The 5th and 6th classes used a variety of techniques including collage.
CCDA hosted a princess and Superhero bike event in Croom Town Park. Thanks to Garda Leanne McCarthy and Sgt Cathal O’Neill, Leanne demonstrated good practice to the children. There were quizzes and lots of prizes and the children had great fun showing off their cycling skills and their great costumes
I am looking forward to the summer and this May has been fantastic. Thanks to all who helped and participated in the various events.
